What is the Question of the Week?
In the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, the Second Vatican Council reminds us that as Catholics, Sunday Liturgy should be both the source and summit of our faith lives. How is this so? As the source of our faith lives, the liturgy inspires us to take what we have experienced during Sunday Mass and incorporate it into the actions and thoughts of our daily lives throughout the week.
The Question of the Week is one way to achieve this. Based on the Scripture readings from Sunday Mass, the question of the week urges parishioners to take time throughout the entire week to reflect more deeply on God’s Word. It asks us to examine more closely the message that is conveyed in the readings, and then asks us to apply that message to our own lives.
Each week we will post three questions: one for children; one for teens; and one for adults. Parishioners are urged to spend time not only in reflection, but also in conversation with one another about the themes and images that are raised by the question of the week. Parents and children can enter into discussion and grow as a family; friends and fellow parishioners can enter into conversation about their own faith journeys. As a result, we can each grow closer to God and in that process grow closer to one another.
