The St. Timothy Book Group meets on last fourth Monday of each month from 7:00 pm-8:30 pm in the Ruocco Center. When holidays fall on that Monday, or when there is a fifth Monday in a month, our meeting is usually shifted by a week.
During the Covid pandemic, we have shifted our meetings to virtual meetings on Zoom. Any parishoenr who wishes to aprticiapte is welcome to do so! SImoply e-mail Colleen Campion ([email protected]) and aks her to add you to the list of peopel who will receive the invite to the Zoom meeting.
Each month, the group selects a different book to read. We then gather to discuss the book in light of our Catholic faith. Selections are made from suggestions offered by group members and titles have varied widely, including contemporary fiction, historical works, spiritual works and biographies. Titles selected by the book group are available in the parish office for a discounted price for those who wish to purchase copies.
The group operates on a "drop-in" basis, whereby members come when they are able. This is also true for our virtual meetings on Zoom. If your eceive the invite, but then find that you are unable to attend, that is no problem! Any parishioner who has read the selection for that month is welcome to attend the discussion.
Upcoming meetings:
Monday, July 27:Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi
Monday, August 31:Wait til Next Year by Doris Kearns Goodwin (for baseball and history fans everywhere who are not able to attend games in person, this may be a much needed read!)
Monday, September 28:Stamped from the Beginning: the Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America by Ibram X. Kendi - a very important and timely topic.
